OK, I know that AA sells an adapter for a 909-7 automatic to a Chevy block but will it also convert a 727? Reason being, I have a fresh 727 running in the J10 now and dont want the added expense of rebuilding and installing a Chevy tranny. The adapters only cost approx $400 which is cheaper than a rebuilt 700R4/Tcase (or T400/Tcase) combo. Who's done it and how?

Why not use this? http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-716131-a/

Though for that kind of money, it may be cheaper to sell the 727 and just go with a rebuilt GM transmission (and even t-case). It's not hard to find a 700R4 and NP241C. That way you don't have to pay for any adapters. The sale of the 727 and t-case will offset the cost substantially. Just a thought.

Also I think the governor in the 727 isn't setup for the diesel, It might try to red line the diesel before it shifts gears.

The Torque Flight AA adapter would be the correct one-right? And at $450 that's a lot cheaper than a rebuilt Chevy trans. Has anyone used this adapter?

Selling the 727/NP2xx to finance most of the 700R4/NP241 will probably get you a working trans and t-case for less than $450 out of your pocket. Or you can find a TH400(or 350) with an NP241 too and save even more money. Just sayin'...

Holly COW! Ive been looking on CL for rebuilt 700R4's and theyre every where for $600-700! Hmmm? IDT, that I could get more than $200 for a used 727/208....but that's only a couple hundred more for the OD tranny.:o

On this forum you could probably get $200 for just the 208 if it's in good shape.

I forgot to consider the expense of new drive shafts for the 700R4.:( Not so cheap now but is still a good option.
IDK, if Id pay $200 for a used 208 but maybe for the tranny and Tcase together.
Was there any other details involved in installing the TF adapter? I sent you a PM and want the adapter.

It's a lot cheaper just to have your factory driveshafts modified. Take measurements between the t-case and the axles before you drop the t-case. Take measurements after the new trans and t-case are in. Take the drive shafts to a shop in town and they'll shorten or extend them for you. Shouldn't cost too much.

Ive done it a few times already. To shorten a shaft with ballance is $150 and to lengthen a front shaft w/o ballancing is $100 (ballancing is $150). Last time I needed DS work done I bought the tube and did it myself but just the tube cost $30.

Does the 6.2 diesel require a larger radiator and will the Chevy OEM fit in the front of a FSJ?
