Has anyone ever seen a crank where the thrust bearing wore into the crank, instead of the crank wearing the bearing? My brother tore apart the 304 that we were going to put in in place of the 360 in my CJ-5, 'cause ihad a balanced flywheel for it, and the thrust bearing had worn like .200 or so into the thrust surface on the crank. What the hell? never seen that before

It has been known to happen, Chevy 305 are famous for it, I have seen them with almost 3/8" end play in the crank and still run fine.

well in order! overheating, riding the clutch, bad belt mis-alignment,torque converter swelling, twisted conn rod, bad line bore, main cap put on wrong, conv not seated all the way back, rods flipped bank to bank or installed backwards, seal saver not flush on balancer and causing belt mis-alignment, trans bolts loose allowing hammering of crank and flywheel(though flywheel usually cracks first) any other causes??? cmon guys help me out here!!!!!!!!!!!

If you need a Crank I have one, I would need to check it out yet. Will be pulling a 304 down and keeping good parts and junking the rest. ;)
