Hey! I don't have an excuse cause mine's inspected, registered (till next August 31 anyway) and insured.
Can I just say I hate the York Fair? I've lived as little as six blocks from the York Fairgrounds for a long time and every year I say "I'm never coming back". The kids or the girlfriend convince me to try again and I say the same thing. It's almost certain to happen again.
Did they still have RC cola in the over priced Coke machines? That still irks me. RC cola tastes like it's name, Rotten Crotch Cola.
I'd be more than happy to meet some of y'all though, 1/2 a gallon North of the fair grounds on 74, turn right, make the next right, can't miss the Wagoneer in the driveway.
If this is too much, one of the mods can delete it. Maybe I won't be as cranky next time around.

Smacaoni-
If you want to meet everyone, why not come down Saturday evening and find us in the campground? Or, some of the folks meet up at a restaurant Friday or Saturday evening. Check back and see what people are planning.

I should have her running again by then, I still hate the Fairgrounds, but if ya'll wanna stop by or meet up, I'm up for it.
Right now, I'm "leaning out" so I could really go for a foot ball sized burrito at Roburrito's right now.
I could pretty much go for Roburrito's any time regardless of how over fat I am. They're just outside of the Fairgrounds, I'm not sure if they've got metered spaces or not.
Even if you don't want to meet up but want to know where there's good chow, just ask. I won't steer ya wrong!

I'm redoing my entire cooling system and all things fuel (from the dropped tank to the block.) I also pulled all things a/c after I found the secondary source of rust in my cab (rat's nest under the dash.)
I better get crackin!
If need be, I could tell AAA it isn't running and needs towed to the fairgrounds. Lol.

I'll be there all weekend too, setting up camp Friday afternoon.
Every year for about 3-4 years now we have had a jeep cruise and 5-10 minute ride to downtown York to a place called Cobblestones on Saturday night and sit in their air conditioning (much needed in recent years!) and have some good food and drinks. Its a huge place that was an old ballroom with very high ceilings, turned into a bar. Family and kid friendly too. We will leave around 630 7 so if you want to head there with us post or shoot me a PM.
See ya'all in York.

Going to swing by for a few on Saturday. It's only a 40 minute drive from my house.
I've never been before but I'm assuming there is some sort of vendor/parts forsale area? If anybody has a good condition stock set of springs for sale I'm interested. I also have a good set of 2-3" lift front springs to get rid of and that I'm going bring with me if anybody is looking for a set.

My jeep won't be there, but I will be. I was really hoping to get it back on the road by this weekend...
If anyone is interested in buying a BJ's aluminum radiator, let me know. I never installed it; I only drilled and elongated holes to meet up with my rad support.
I decided I want to keep it stock. I also bought the fatter water pump, so I won't be able to run a fan clutch. Between those two things, back to brass and copper I go.
I'm hoping my old rad can be re-cored. If not, I'll have to pick up a new one...

Turnout was definitely down this year. I think there were a total of 7 FSJ's, if you count the two FCs. Not much in the way of old iron at all, one Willys wagon, two Willys trucks, and a couple flat fenders. As much as I hate to say it, watching the obstacle course was the highlight of the days festivities.

Well, the rumor is next year the FSJ's will be grouped in with Liberty, Compass, Patriot, and Commander and the FC's will have their own class.
This was the worst showing of FSJ's I've seen in years. Four usual participants, one very enthusiastic new J-truck owner (he's young still) and two FC trucks. I guess it will be back to three trophies overall for the class due to lack of participation.
Otherwise, I thought the show was ehhhh, ok. There were a TON of swap meet vendors although I felt the selection was kind of slim unless you needed tires, turn signal lenses, or pignose grilles. There were the usual new parts vendors for anything baby Jeep related. There were as many Comanche's as there was FSJ's. The Willy's and the Military classes were lacking in numbers too unfortunately. The baby Jeeps?................boring as usual so who cares.
Most exciting things of the day? scoring a perfect J-truck plastic tank for $20, meeting up with JeepinPete to get my Pete-machined disc rotor for my transfer case e-brake (thanks a Million) and our little trail fix off US30 in the Advanced Auto parking lot (also scored a treasure hunt hot wheel to boot).
Here's some pics of our favorites.

Well I never say no to a dancing banana...
The maroon Wagoneer arrived around 930 or 1000 on Saturday. It's owner proceeded to down several Keystone Light 16oz, cleverly concealed in a plastic sport-type bottle with a straw. I think it was around 230 or so (which would be just after the peer voting ended), he began to pick up his displays, chair, cooler etc... but he was having a little trouble staying vertical. He, if fact, broke his fall against another fellow FSJ, putting a scratch in it's otherwise pristine paint. At this point a FSJ'er notified the event staff of the situation, who quickly notified the local PD after telling him to pour out the remaining said Keystone Lights onto the ground. Said local constubulary took the owner of the maroon Jeep outside the gate for a chat and a time-out. After some time the officers walked him back to his truck and had him secure his vehicle and he was escorted out and told to leave the truck there until morning. Well wouldn't you know by 400pm that truck was gone ( I didn't see who drove it away - but I was told it was the same fellow who only two hours earlier couldn't keep his feet under him.) Now keep in mind the very first page of the registration states "NO PETS or ALCOHOL inside of the event gate." And as you may have read elsewhere, for possibly the very first time in PA JEEP Show history, the weather was mild, so it's not like said Maroon Wagoneer owner can claim he was overcome by the heat.
I think for causing a seen, breaking the rules, and almost committing a DWI (if not for the quick actions of the FSJ bystanders), he should have to forfiet his entry. Can you imagine the message it would send if he goes home with a 1st place trophy after that? I wasn't there on Sunday, so I don't know if he came back, or if he won. And, no, I'm not in the same category as him, so I don't stand to win if he got the boot.

As for the show itself:
Pluses:
The weather was mild and the sun stayed behind the clouds. It only rained very early in the day. Just enough to keep the dust down and make the obstacle course more interesting.
There was a good turnout of swap meet vendors. Many of whom had FSJ parts. Too bad there weren't many FSJ owners in attendance.
I liked the Jeep Underground Vehicles. That was one of the reasons we decided to come this year. But I've already seen the NuKizer (and still really like it), and wish they had brought the FC.
They had two new activities for people who registered this year. One was a "poker Draw" where you drew chips with playing card symbols from a bag in an attempt to make the best hand. The winners got $250 and $500. They held this drawing on Saturday.
They also had a trivia game where you got raffle tickets for each correct answer. This raffle was also drawn on Saturday. The prize was a high lift jack, a massive tow strap, and a MT Tires shirt. Guess who won? ME! (thanks entirely to Headhoncho) I guess I shouldn't have blurted out, "Oh, I won a high-lift jack at ECI a few years ago." Because in retrospect it probably sounded ungreatful, which I'm not. I'm really glad they are bringing new activities in. Well, I said it loud enough, that a nice guy who is going to the Outer Banks heard me, and I sold that brand new jack to him for $50 (which covers the price of admission, but doesn't come near to covering the two tanks of gas to get there and home).
There was good ice cream in food row and it was reasonable.
They had some entertainment for the kids: a puppet show and some carnevale style games.
The minuses:
The crazy long line to get into the Obstacle course. We skipped it this year.
The rest of the food was kinda overpriced, especially since the burger we bought was terrible and the fries weren't so fresh. The pudding vendor was there but they didn't bring pudding! That really wrecked my day.
I couldn't get a guy selling used tires to come down to a reasonable price. Why should I buy lightly used tired (with no warranty) for $600 when a vendor on the other side of the show will sell them to me brand new for $625 plus shipping? It's only worth what some one is willing to pay for it.
The FSJ's were parked as far away from the action as possible without actually being outside the gate. And nobody parked us according to category. But I guess since there were so few of us, the public could sort it out. I guess it was nice to picnic and visit away from the noise and commotion tho.

The crap magnet / trailer queen / 1980's JC Whitney catalog poster child typically arrives and departs on a trailer. The guy is rude, obnoxious, anti-social, and with this latest round of shenanigans should be banned / barred from any and all future shows. Just my $.02. I have nothing to gain either as I do not currently have a running / driving FSJ, but he gives FSJ owners and Jeep enthusiast a bad name and perpetuates the stereo type about the hobby and the vehicle owners. Once again, just my $.02.

For any who are still wondering, the above mentioned Wagoneer did have his votes cancelled and everyone else moved up. He is now banned for life from all PA Jeeps events, so no one should have to put up with him ever again.
