The manual gives a measurement number but I don't know what it means. I know how to adjust it but don't know to what degree. Should the choke on the top of the carb be open a little, alot or just resting closed?
The problem is that it was having a hard time starting so I turned the choke like I read in another thread here and wallah it starts quick. Problem now is, it surges at highway speeds. Ahhh!

This is pretty generic, but should get you in the ballpark. Adjust the cold start choke setting with the linkage(bending the rod). Run the engine to operating temp. The choke should be fully open. Loosen the choke spring housing and rotate it until the choke plate just begins to move toward the closed position. Rotate it back one notch lean. This should work for you.

Hey Mr. Clean thanks so much! I've got it running great now! I am so pumped. This board is awesome. I had to adjust the choke a lot and then change both idle screws until I had it just right. Took me about 30 minutes but it is running good. Hopefully I'll pass that emmission tomorrow.

Don't know about NM but here in LA LA land the mixture screws usually are turned to the leanest (even till the idle is a little rough) possible setting to pass. Of course this requires some reajustment after the test.
