My '73 J-4000 is ready for paint. It had been repainted prior to me buying it and I am not sure how true they stayed with the factory two tone color combination. Does anyone have one of those marketing booklets from '73 that shows photos of the two tone paint scheme? Mine is a custom cab, and I would like to do the original colors and color scheme. Please email me any photos you have of the proper color seperations around that year. Thanks in advance. I did look at the IFSJA archives of ads and brochures and they didn't have one.

I don't have pics of all the various colors but I'll email the color names/codes/combinations avail in 73.

I've got several brochures from 73. They actually used 2 different 2-color schemes on the trucks. One was a white over solid color and the other was white/solid/white on the flares and lower panels. I'll try to scan some pics from the brochures and get them off to you. Also, do a search on ebay. There is an ad for a 73 pickup- put "1973 jeep" in the search and you can see one of the 2 tone schemes. This is EXACTLY what my truck looked like when I first got it, including the color, cap, tires, and hubcaps.

Thanks everyone with the info. I look forward to getting those photos that you are scanning. I believe my truck was the white over the solid color. I think they kept close to the original scheme, but they may have repainted it as a later scheme to make the truck look newer. Thanks

The color of my chero was also offered on J20''s that I know of. Because there is two of them in town that are the same color.

You can see picts here:

I have decided to go with the two tone scheme that went with the '73 as well as go back with the original grill. (No rino conversion). Does anyone know how wide the stripes are and the space between them at the bottom of the truck (looks like three), and are they the body color, or a flat or glossy black. I am thinking I will paint them the body color. Thanks
