While removing the wire harness on my 79 cherokee (parts rig) for Big Red tonight, I notice that oil pressure sending unit had the single wire and also had a two wire plug attached to the fitting were the sending unit attaches. What would this be? None of my jeeps have it.

It is the electric choke pressure switch. Once you have oil presure that switch powers up the electric choke. 79 harness is going to be different than your 76 or your 77 if thats what its for. 79 is a stand alone year for the wiring harness ;)

If you ever convert to an electric choke, you can add in the oil-pressure switch to keep the choke from heating up when the engine's not running.
