Is it the best way to removed coked oil from the oil passages? Is it cheap insurance when rebuilding a motor? How much should it cost? I believe I was last quoted 50.00.

Yeah if you can always hot tank it. I know here its hard to find a shop to hot tank it. 50.00 sounds reasonable

I had a my d300 hot tanked for $25 at an engine shop. I had to wait 2 weeks untill they had enough engines to throw in with it.

$50 isn't bad at all.

Mine didn't come as clean as I thought it should. The outside still had risidual rust on it. I was expecting to see a clean piece of cast.
