Vibration in $WD

After shifting into 4WD, I can drive a short distance and then have nasty vibrations that don't go away until I shift out of 4wd and slow down or stop and then take off again.

I've got the 229. No noticable problem when driving in 2wd.

Does this sound like transfer case? It doesn't make any noises, just vibration.

Do you have any problems in low range? I am getting a shudder and slippage in 4Hi and believe that the viscous coupler is shot. I am going to split the case this weekend and 'pin' the coupler with 3.5-4.0in. grade 8, 5/16 bolts to take the coupler out of the weak link equation. Will eliminate the full-time 4wd option, but it is cheaper than a 400$ coupler.
