Its just over 150 LBS, making it to heavy to ship with FED EX, unless you ship the Trans only in one Package and the T/C in another, then its good to go. ;) Make sure the Fluid is drained!

gsmikie did you ever get around to making the video on rebuilding the 727? I am having a horrible time with mine, so far 2 rebuilds first one went about 1000 miles and started acting up went to take it back to the shop and he had disappeared, the second shop rebuilt it and it started to act up almost immediatly he took it out and replaced some shaft put it back together and it seemed to be much better but still not perfect he told me it was the torque converter and needed a coulple of weeks to get the lock-up converter in about a month went by and he too closed and filed banckruptcy. I live in a very small town and now I am very gun shy about trying to have the thing rebuilt again. Could the trans just be a piece of junk. From evey thing I read these trannys are the most complicated in the world. Or am I just having a terrible streak of bad luck.

The 727 is actually the simplest automatic out there. I'd get a book and check out the procedure, if it seems like something you can do great if not I or someone else can at least refer you to a decent tranny shop. That said, was either of your "mechanics" name Dennis Johnson?

mikie, I have a fried 727 and 2 parts ones ( worked when pulled ). What can you do for those? put 2 into 1? If you need a 727 for a vid, you can take 1 ( or 2 ).

JohnV Why do you ask about The name? I think the first guys name was Dennis (not real sure) but he was in White City,Oregon, but the second guy is still here locally but he is not doing that kind of work and he is waiting for his bancruptcy hearing and told me not to bother him anymore. I really want to bother him ALOT,Oh well. Anybody have any luck with AAMCO?
I will keep a eye out for the video.

When I was in The Dalles I toasted a 700R4/208 and both axles in a 87 K5. This Mr. Johnson did the rebuilding afterwards. He put the wrong gasket kit in to the 700R4, sealed the 208 with rtv, and he dropped the whole works off a tranny jack breaking the adapter. So he welds that up, and finishes the job, then he r&r's the axles converting the rear to a 14 bolt. paid for seperately. Anyhow the 700R4 stopped shifting out of 2nd so I take it back (this is where we find out about the gasket) He pulls the tranny and puts in the right gasket and the pig shifts. Then I go out to try the 4wd, I lock the hubs and shift the pig into 4hi and "POP POP BANG I ain't moving" is all I get. Turns out the 14 bolt has 4.11's and I'm running 3.42's in the front. Scratch one np208.tried to get it resolved but he had already moved out of his shop to an undisclosed location. By the time I found him again he was heading south. This guy got over $2800 for my the work on my 700R4 (wich died in roughly 4 months) alone, and took at least a dozen other good folks' money as well as a few cars that were not his. Just curious if we may have found him again. Sorry for the rant.
STAY AWAY FROM AAMCO!!!!
That said, email me for a decent tranny shop in Pdx, The Dalles, or the Tri-Cities if you need to.

JohnV It just sucks to put a bunch of money ($1600) into a project and you find yourself back in the same spot, then you still have to pay all over again. I am about 9 hours from portland so a shop up that way doesn't really help, with my finances the way they are right now. But thanks anyways.
