can i use stock wires for aftermarket guages?

I bought the dash insert for my 78 chief and all new autometer guages.Can I just cut the wires from oem guages and hook them up to new guages?Also how did you guys secure the metal plate to your guage cluster?After I cut mine out there is only about 1/8 edge to work with.I was thinking some type of glue.Rivets or small screws might crack the little bit of plastic thats left.

Some wires will work some won't all depends on gauges you purchased. If you got all new electrical gauges they can all use stock wiring. If mechanical gauges start running tubing.

You need to use the sending units for the new gauges, I do not think the stock sending units will work. I would not Cut the wires, Just run new ones and that way if for some reason in the future you can remove the gauges and put the stock setup back in with little time and effort. New Wire is Cheap.
