Throttle Cable Bracket

Hi All!

I've recently completed the wiring on my GM tbi and I'm having trouble coming up with a suitable throttle cable bracket. What are ya'll using?

Any help and pictures will be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the stock Jeep bracket. Of course, mine doesn't have a slushbox kickdown or cruise. Is that the problem? Don't have a camera or I'd send a picture.

I am also using my original one. It had two sets of holes in it to bolt it to the intake, neither one would work, I ened up having to drill a new set of holes in between the old one, then slot them slightly. Also had to do some slight bending of the brackett and also put a couple washers between it and the intake to get the cable where it needed to be.

I don't get why you can't just bolt it in the stock location. Mine's on an Edelbrock Performer, and maybe that makes a difference.

I'm using the stock one on an Edelbrock intake, but had to bend it a bit (and maybe modify it? Don't remember........) I'll try to remember to take some pics tomorrow.

On my Performer intake, I had to raise the OEM bracket about 1- 1.5 inches in order for the cable to be at the right height and not severely angled up towards the throttle body. I did this by using two large nuts as spacers and using longer bolts.

IIRC on my stock 2bbl intake, I cut the stock bracket apart, so I had a bolt down plate and a mounting plate, then welded them back together in the correct location for the tbi

Great little write-up. My problem was that I got the GW without a carb or any of the old brackets...... I've ordered several from Summit but nothing comes close.

I'm also running a 700r4 and trying to figure out the correct distance for mounting the kickdown cable.

I have a edl preformer non egr intake. I am running a 454 throttle body, not sure if that makes a diffrence. But I know there was definately no way it would work in the stock location. (well mabey not stock, but the location it was when running my old holley truck avenger, the the edl before that) It just simply was too far away for the cable to reach. I am also running the holley adapter plat that 1 inch thick and made for the larger 454 TB. And I have also seen several diffrent styles of factory throttle cable bracketts.

On the GW I used the stock as well. The caddy was a different case, I went to Autozone and they had a genaric one that mounts to the rear bolt of the spacer. It is ajustable to a wide range of locations. Two might be the answer. :cool:
