Based on what I'm hearing/ reading on this board, it sounds like my regulator might be the problem. The window won't go down by itself, and barely makes it up by itself. There is no sound when this happens, I mean you don't hear the window motor struggling or skipping.

You have to take the guts out of the tailgate to get to the reg. It's between the gears and the tailgate.

chances are, its either a clip that attaches the regulator arms to the channel has popped off or the channel itself has parted. where abouts in beantown are you located? i'm in marshfield, 30 miles down rt -3. if you can get the window down enough to lower the t/g,heres what to do. once the gate is open, remove the upholstery panel. underneath it is an inspection plate. then use the rear key switch to raise the glass a bit so you can see into the space. the safety switch has to be closed to do this.with a flashlight, you can see whats up. i have worked extensively on the t/gs of every wag ive owned. on each wag ive honed my technique. the latest refinement is to use a 2" holesaw to make access holes to work on the clips. the t/gs are a PITA only because theyve been neglected. but once you get them working and you excercise them regularly, they work fine. after 2 years of nursing along a rotted out channel,i bit the bullet and spent about 50$ on a new channel and clips. i glued the window in with adhesive caulk. it was pretty easy. took about 1/2 hr to remove the window, about an hour to remove the channel from the window and install the window into the new channel bedded with caulk. i let it cure for a day then spent a 1/2 hour lubing up everything and re-istalling the window. and i work slow. the results are worth it. the window opens and closes smoothly and quietly. no more fiddling. smile.gif
