Has anyone installed one of these cable-actuated lockers? Can it be instlled in the front & rear? They are axpensive but it seems like it would have better manners on the street and nearly bullettproof off-road. Any comments?

I want a set bad myself. Many other things to do first though. I like the fact that a selectable locker is now available where you don't need air.

i must admit, i like the looks of em myself. of course, people thot the ARB was the greatest thing since sliced bread when they came out as well, but now alot of hardcore offroaders complain that they have to change all the O rings very frequently-some as often as yearly.
id prolly want the ox to be out for awhile so i cna hear what people will find fault with over time before i could shell out that much $$$ for one.
one prollem i see is the cable- its prolly got to be a predetermined length.do they sell an ox with an x foot long cable for front applications, and xfoot long for rear? or are you forced to wind it up and have it hangin down cause the cable is way too long?
for me air is not a big deal.i could very easily plumb an airline and regulator directly ito my OBA system. if a rock does grab hold of an arb air line or ox cable, the air line is gonna be easier to replace. ive had logs grab my diff vent hose,as well as brake lines,so that is something to consider. how well will the ox cable hold up to a big rock or log grabbing hold of it?
one complaint ive allready heard is that you sometimes need to move just alittle to get it to line up and engage. so you must have the foresight to engage it before you are stuck and this is not possible. it also could be hard to engage on the middle of a hill. with the arb you just flip the switch.
this, however could be bad. i think thats maybe somethin id prolly like better thanthe arb-the positive feel of it engaging. once you flip the little arb toggle switch, you really dont have any idea of what its doing, unless you see rooster tails coming from both tires smile.gif
thats bout all i have to say about that. i definately like the looks of the ox(plus you get a cool new diff cover  )but i definately couldnt say right now which one is better,or even wich one id want.
I went wheeling with a guy who had OX lockers front and rear in his TJ. His first hand impressions were favorable. Very good street manners and solid positive locking action that got him everywhere. That is, until he got hung up on a berm where all 4 tires were off the ground.

Thats what I want to hear!! Keep it comeing. LOL!! If he high centered it wouldn't matter what kind of lockers he had he will be able to do nothing except change a tire maybe. ;)

Ya those seam to be really cool. I like detroits alot, good and strong (or as strong as a locker can be) but the street manners arent nearly as good as a open dif. But I could get detroits front and rear for the price of a OX for just the rear.

No reason they can't sell a locker with a ten foot cable, then you can curl up the "excess", just like the cable for an aftermarket AT shifter cable.

stuka your right! i my self would have to wait and see if the price comes down in order to get one!!! i could get 2 lockrites for LESS than an ox locker!!! but i like the design...i like it's mechanic's,simple and no guessing as to whether it's locked or not
just too pricy for my wifes pocket book
