A slight, short metalik clink. not too loud when I hit the gas in N, P, or any gear?

I had that same problem and it turned out to be bad crankshaft bearings. The crank could move back and forth almost half an inch. No fun  . Mine started slowly making that noise off an on but got louder and more frequent until it always did it. The problem could also be loose flex plate bolts hitting the cover.

Hmmmm, thanks 91. You mean bad main bearings?

I guess they would be the main bearings.

Just a follow up. I laid underneath Louise on Sunday, had my gal touch the gas to initiate the clanking sound.

It is coming from the Cat. I guess there is something loose in there....

Only clanks when the gas is initially depressed.

So, all is well with then world once again.
