Hi.

What is involved to switching to unlocking hubs on an '89 GW.
If this is doable, is it worth while?
I do alot of highway miles, so I was thinking from the point of economy and wear and tear on the front end.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
Kevin.

Kevin, it's easy, just follow the directions in the package. I'd recommend Warn Premiums.
BUT since you're running an 89 it'll have the 229 x-case so never ever try to run in 4WD with the hubs unlocked. If you do you'll blow the viscous coupler in the x-case and it's a minimum $300+ US dollars IF you can even find one. If you're real sure you, the wife, friend whatever won't ever shift to 4WD with the hubs unlocked it's a worthwhile gamble...but a gamble at best. If ya screw up...it'll get spendy in a hurry.

I doubt you will gain much if anything with the manual hubs. Like -joe has said
quote:
a gamble at best

. By the way where in Northern BC do you live. I lived in various towns from Fort Nelson BC to 100 Mile House BC. Have a Ex Wife and two kids in Williams Lake BC, a sister in Prince George BC, brother inlaw in Fort ST John BC. I have BC covered. HA I might even know you!!!! :D
