I have difficulty getting my '88 Grand Wagoneer to start in the mornings. It's not flooding - no black smoke at start up - battery is in good shape. I have new spark plugs and the wires have about 30K on them - I sprayed the inside of the distributor cap with WD-40 and wiped it out - I replaced the original coil. It just takes the motor a while to catch - during the rest of the day, it starts just fine.
Thanks!

Yes, the choke is working.

Sounds like the float bowl on the carb may be draining out over night and it takes a little cranking to pump some fuel back into it. Try this next time; crank it for about 10-15 secs then do your normal start procedure- pump the accelerator once or twice or whatever. If it fires up, you know the fuel is leaking- on your 88 GW, I'd suspect a bad power valve.

I have the same problem, what is the solution....rebuild? If so, stay with motorcraft?
