The rubber mostly stayed down! It was great to get back in the saddle after the roll over. There were a few tense minutes here and there but my Good Ole Ugly Jeep performed like a champ and didn't let me down. It was fun learning how my new locker functioned!

I have to admit, I had a few tense moments myself. The first look over the side going down to Hey Joe Canyon got my attention. In Hey Joe, we had very narrow trail and drop offs in most places where articulation was exercised. When we all backed off the first attempt at Porcupine, Krista and I were done for the day. Later when I looked at the beginning of Hells Revenge, it gave me shivers. I think it will take some time to feel comfortable about some of the off camber stuff and sheer drops.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room. ;)

Ride em cowgirl

We sang Life's a Highway
There's only one way you're gonna get through it
When she starts to twist be more like Chris
Pull your hat down tight
And just LeDoux it!

I'm still trying to imagine a baby jeep negotiating that switchback! Meep! That was wicked ugly and sent me over the psyche-out edge. I just needed to get off the trail after that.

I can see where it could give you a case of the willies. I think it would give me a bit of a pause

yeah it was a stupid obstacle. Hikers likely tossed all the rocks down off the trail that's not shown in the pic is my opinion.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b36/flatbackdragon/MOAB%202011/Fins%20and%20Things/032.jpgTHANKS PHIL! That picture puts it in perspective a bit. Yeah, it would suck to go the wrong way down that.

I'm sure those rocks were stacked to help vehicles get up the steps. It would be the only way you could get a tire up without bumping the heck out of it and risk bumping yourself right over the edge of the trail!

Yeah there's no way that's meant to be a switchback any more for anything not low and small like an atv..hmm..go figure.. :/

People better get off their butts and haul out to Moab next year, we'll be seeing more of this. We saw 20x more atvs and rhinos then even baby jeeps. In fact, I'd say we passed less than 10 actual jeeps in three days on the trail.

Nobody went down. We backed up to a spot that allowed us to turn around and we left the trail.

Hhhhhhmmmmmmm - just googled porcupine rim trail thinking I'd find some images or vids. Every single link on the first search result page was for mountain biking. Still searching......

And pretty much got nothing. Mostly mountain biking the trail. Looks like it is an in and out trail altho there is a bypass or two back out to Sand Flats Rd. You can drive about 11 miles and it turns into bike single track. Found one vid from 06 coming down the ledges, but not the decent around the switchback.

looking at first page after your comment of mtn biking went straight to page 10 and looked for anything that had 4x4 in title or site. worked like a charm, this ol mans brain works sometimes. haven't checked any further yet tho.

This is what it looked like in 2005. Those are 40" tires. So it was still a bit steep.
