idle speed

Can anyone help? I have a 91 wag. It idles really high. When I adjust the screw it doesnt run as smooth and it stalls. Right now the idle is set high, it runs well but after driving on the highway when I get off, the first time I press on the brakes the truck just turns off. What could be wrong?

Hey ryan, the simple idle speed adjustment screw moves the carriage the idle solenoid rides on. It's a cylinder on the driver's side of the carb with an wire to it. Mine idles ~600-700 RPM, you can check the sticker under the hood for your truck's spec...borrow a tachometer :D :D
