What's the best way to remove the outside dew wipes from the windows? Are they attached or do they just pop out? I'm getting the beast painted next week and I want to put new wipes on it.
Thanks,
David
They are held in by 4-5 clips that point down. These clips go into slots cut into the door skin. You can use a door trim removal tool or a flat screwdriver. Insert it between the door skin and the dew wipe and carefully pry where the clips are to open them up a little. Then just lift it out. Don't pry too hard or you bend everything to hell and they don't go back in very well. To put them back in, bend the clips back together and pop them back in the holes.
When I get home from work, I'll try and post a picture or two. I have one door apart and you can see it really well.

Thanks derf, I would appreciate it. I don't want to damage anything that will keep the new ones from working.

David,
Where did you find the new dew wipes and what was the cost. By the way my father in law who works at Owenby auto down their was up for the holidays to see our 4 week old daughter and he said he remembered you stopping in a while back.

Chris,
First, congrats on the new baby. Ours is two weeks old so I know exactly what's going on at your house.
I'm getting the new dew wipes from Brent at BJ's Off-Road, he's a member here. You can email him at bjsoffroad@yahoo.com for a listing of parts. He has some hard to find stuff for reasonable prices. He charged me $56.00 for a set of 4 dew wipes. I haven't received them yet so I'll let you know when I get them.
I'll bet not too many people get parts for GWs at Owenby. Luckily(knock on fake wood paneling), I haven't needed any work or parts from there. They do good work there, I'll stop in and say hi next time I need oil or something.
