J10 has ticking lifters... cherokee has been rebuilt within 5000 miles
so could i swap the lifters from the cherokee into the J10, or should i get a whole new kit (ala summit, edelbrock, crower, etc)?

Get new lifters. They are cheap enough that it is not worth your time and the gaskets to pull them from the other motor.

Don't mix old lifters from one cam to another old used cam...lifters are cheap. Buy new ones.

Sounds like you may need a side order of Cam and cam bearings with those lifters. Possibly more.
