Okay here's the problems and my questions. I need to replace the pinion bearing off the rear diff. Unfortunately the (insert swear word here) yoke nut won't loosen off. I broke down and bought a 3/4" electric impact gun which works great, but **** near shakes my arm off when I try to take this nut off. Have tried both directions to try to get some play in it, as well as some **** fine penetrating oil to help, but no go. So my question is, if I just cut the **** thing off can I get a replacement for it?

As for the QT problem, I went to back the truck out of the garage (removed the rear driveshaft first) and she wouldn't move. Checked the front diff, it had lots of gear oil, so I jacked the truck up and blocked it to see if the front driveshaft was turning when in reverse or drive. It wasn't. So, I am assuming that something has come off in the QT, right?

Anyway, I pulled her out with the quad and parked her for now. Thankgod the motor still runs strong. Your help is always appreciated!

The axle yoke nut is on pretty tight. Let the oil soak for awhile. All I can say is use a breaker bar and a cheater pipe if you have to. You can use a little heat but go esay and just try and heat the nut. I wouldn't cut it off, you could damage the threads that way.

There's nothing wrong with the QT. If you remove a driveshaft, the clutch pack will send most of the power to that yoke. If the clutches are still tight, the vehicle may move a little, like a slipping tranny. That's just how the QT works. If you put it in E-drive, the clutches are locked and the front and rear power is undifferentated, so you can drive with 1 driveshaft.

AB,
I just went down the road you are starting!
I used a large Air compressor and about 150# of pressure. The thing that helped me was to take a pipe wrench and get a good grip on the yoke. Try to rotate the yoke the opposite direction or (wedge it) hold it still as you try to loosen. The yoke will rotate and not let you get a good pull on the nut.The best approach is to use the impact wrench because the hammering effect WILL loosen the nut. I let the pipe wrench pull up against the frame so I was pulling against something solid. It just takes torque but it will work! Best of luck.

The pinion nuts are torqued at about 220 ft lbs!! you need a LONG cheater bar.

Definitly a long cheater bar and some heavy grunting nosies. I used a air impact when is took mine off. I don't know if the electric type have the same grunt to them. That just my opinion. Hope everything work out
