After almost a year of owning my Wag...the transformation begins. Cummins 4bt, 700r4 and hopefully Atlas 4. Going to start by mocking up motor and trans, making mounts for both, and tack welding everything up. After its all in place, we plan on taking the body off, finish welding everything, sandblast and paint the frame. Im using Ford hydraulic mounts to kill vibration. While all that is being done, the trans will be getting completely rebuilt, and so will the motor. Hopefully while all that is being completed it will give me enough time to get the Atlas!!!!
The Wag is my mine and my brothers, so by sharing cost it isnt to hurtful on the wallet! I have a buddy from work helping me with everything, which is awesome because he has built some beautiful cars. His knowledge is incredible. Basically my bro and I want to go through the entire Wag...replace wires, hydro-brakes, guages, disc brakes, x-over steer, etc, etc...the whole 9 yards.
I will use it as my daily driver, and it will be our trail truck, and also get us to Ga every weekend of deer season. So we want it safe, reliable, comfortable, and get atleast 20 mpg. Unfortuneatly I dont think it will be done by this hunting season so I guess my 2008 F350 will continue to rack up some miles this year!
I will post pics when I fig out how!!!

Anchor #2698. Go to autozone website and type in 2698 for parts search, then click motor mounts.
I believe they are from 1980s-1990 Ford F150. I know for fact they were used with 300 inline 6. My research tells me 2698 hy are hydraulic and 2698 sr are solid rubber.

Thanks. Look similar to the cummins mounts except round.

I got the adapter, flexplate, and the starter from a gentleman on the "4btswap" website for a heck of a deal. Only a couple bills more then a couple guys wanted for there "original" adapter. So for a little bit extra money, I thought it was a smart way to go, its a clean setup. It uses a Powerstroke 6.0L starter which is fairly small, so no clearance issues. No flexplate adapter needed. No tilt on the engine.
As far as why the 700r4...I thought about what i want and need!! I need and want overdrive for mpg. And I want an automatic, I like manuals but the shifting gears gets old!! I have a 96 nissan p-up I use as my daily driver and I work an hour from home, tired of shifting gears through city and in traffic. Its a blessing when I get in my 08 F350 and just put it in drive!!! Im not gonna lie, I did give the nv4500 some thought...for strengh, and durabilty. At the end of the day I think the 700r4 will work great. I plan on having it built up to handle much more than the 4bt will ever throw at it. A good trans cooler and i'll be set.

I think it will be a great combo. The only reason I asked is cause I saw that adapter and I knew how much they cost. I seen it over there for sale. I debated on going gm or Allison on mine just could not justify the cost of that adapter. PATC is a good place to get tranny rebuild parts. Those people are pretty knowledgeable.

Believe me I wouldnt have gotten that adapter either! Just so happen it worked out perfect when i started looking for an adapter, that guy had a billet one. He decided to go another route, and was selling it. I found an original adapter, but the guy only had the adapter and flexplate, and he wasnt sure of the starter. Then another guy had the adapter and the starter, but no flexplate!!! Was getting aggravating, but then I saw the guys ad with the billet adapter.....thank God!!
I agree with you on there rebuild kits, I will probably get one from them. They seem to be extremely knowledgeable.
Im getting the motor mounts this week, hopefully I can get something done this weekend...unless we go to our property in Ga. I also have to buy perches and leafs for the front. The old owner used C-channels as perches, welded them crooked & uneven, and made up his own leaf spring packs. None which are from a Wag, and they are very arched. I want to go with the original straight leafs for a Wag. Probably the 7 leaf packs. I want to set up front suspension up correctly before mocking up motor, incase of any clearance issue.

Wish you were closer. I would sell you my suspension. It's all stock but it's all coming out.

the 4bt adds abotu 350 lbs to the front suspenssion over an amc v8. on paper its closer to 200-250 depending on source but on a scale mine was 350-400 lbs heavier up on the front axle than it was before the swap.
750 lbs motor vs 530 lbs
intercooler, tubing, larger battery, more oil and coolant, heavy accessory brackets, turbo and manifold.... it was supprising how quickly it all added up and weighed it down.
with BJ's 4" springs front adn rear the rake front to rear was increased my front end settled out 1"-1.5" after the install. it wasnt a big deal but my reason for mentioning it is 7 leaf's may not be enough over time

I never did weigh mine, but i havent noticed any settling. I did stock height, with a 2" body lift. I moved my engine as far back as I could and the length of the 47rh with the 241 along with my rear mounted tank might have more evenly distributed the weight so I just havent noticed the sag.
