I'm looking at a '75 Cherokee S with a 360 motor. Does anyone know what kind if tranny they put in these models? Also the case is a quadra-trac with a knob in the glove box. Is this a single speed transfer case? I can't find any other levers.

It's a GM TH400 with an AMC engine bolt pattern. The high/low lever for the TC is under the driver's seat close to the transmission tunnel if it has it.If it ain't there it prob doesn't have low range.

It has the TH400 tranny.

The glove-box switch is for the E-drive (locks the driveshafts together). If your case has the low-range, there would be a small lever on the left-side of the tranny-tunnel, just under the right-corner of the driver's-seat. If there's no lever there, and there's no cable-operation on the dash for the low-range, and you look on the back of the unit underneath the truck and there's a big round flat plate centered on the back of it, then it probably doesn't have a low-range. One can be added easily-enough, though.

that's what mine is and i suggest if it is yours do away with the cable pull and rig up a lever system! i had to on mine and man was it a pain to find another. what really sucks is when you have to go underneath with a 9/16" everytime you want low range. but bob is correct, there should be a cable pull on the lower right hand corner of the dash beside the glovebox.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think i'm going to go ahead and get this rig as it only has 118k original miles on it and the a/c even works. Is $900 too much for this rig?
