Please help. Have the steering wheel, compressions plate, lock ring and turn switch assembly (round plastic white thing inside steering column) all removed but I still can't figure out how to remove the turn signal/cruise/wiper control switch (multifunction switch) from the column. I followed the instructions in the Haynes manual and it got me to the point I'm at... STUCK. I don't want to break the column so I quit for the day till I hear from someone on this forum. I have the new multifunction switch, got it from BJ's. But I can't figure out how to get the old one out. What's the trick? What's the next step that I am apparently missing? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lou Hodac

hi Babalou, the lever must be turned slightly, then pulled straight out of the switch, hold the new lever next to the old lever, and you will see which way it has to be turned, I think it is to the left, but I am not sure. Hope this helps, John

turn it slightly counter clockwise while pulling gently on it, it should come free easily.

OK... No luck yet. Should I pull harder or just break out the sawzall now and cut the column wide open. And how in the world am I supposed to get the wire back in there? Thanks so much for the info. I feel like I'm in over my head today and it's such a simple part... :(

Thanks,
Lou

WOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!! I was seriously getting ready to bust the steering column open just forward of the turn signal. I read the last post by Lindel, took a quick lunch break and then calmly tried turning and pulling again and then it just poped off in my hand. THANKS!!!
