St.Louis Mo Springfield, Effingham Il area members get together?

UPDATE - So far its sounding like St.louis Mo. area, sounds like we will shoot for one day the weekend of 20,21,22nd. Possibly a lunch ( here maybe, http://www.supersmokers.com/) followed by a park,or some other outdoors spot we can all hang around and chat for a bit. Show up for it all, or just long enough to introduce yourself on the way somewhere else, whatever you got time for.

How about it? Any members around St.louis, Champaign, Mt.Vernon, Springfield Il or Mo, Indy, Or anywhere else near the "other non Chicago" southernish parts of Illinois lets see if we can get something together.

Dont need to be a "bring your FSJ or stay home" event. Bring whatever you got that will get there and back. It would be great to just get a bunch of people who get the FSJ addiction together somewhere, and talk Jeeps.

Maybe there is a town kinda central that rents a park pavilion out (I'll chip in $20 right now if need be), or even some member with a bit of ground and a shed/barn that is willing.

Chime in, lets hear some ideas.

I am in, as long as I am not traveling for work when it is scheduled.

As far as location, I am located on I-44 between Springfield, MO and St. Louis. I know of several members that live around Springfield, several up around Columbia, and at least one down by Cape Girardeau. Of course, these members are all in Missouri.

I travel down to Capre Girardeau every so often, so that gets me close to Southern Ill.

My uncle has some ground in High Ridge Mo. and a jeep (only a CJ5, but......), doubt he'd mind. Not that he needs another excuse to have a beer (or several) and BS for a few hours.:thumbsup:

Lets see who else chimes in the next few days or so and we'll start getting a little more specific with when + where.

Far as a date, something a couple months out so we got time to get our plans made. Hows say.....sometime in early May sound guys? That gives us a couple months warning to get things set up.

Hello, I had almost given up on anyone else chiming in.

So, that makes 4 of us. 2 kind central Il and 2 Mo.
Looking like somewhere just west of St.Louis would be basically midway so far.

Any ideas guys? A place to eat and sit around chatting for a while, or whatever. Open to suggestions.

Yea, well, wasn't real sure just what category my area falls in.
Not really "south" anything, dont want to be any more "north" (its cold enough here) kinda "central" no where, "east" of the Miss., "west" of the east coast....................................... yup, just kinda "here".

Far as a date goes, like I said before, I figured around early May maybe...... could be sooner if it works for everybody.
Just wanted to give everybody time to "plan around it".

I'm lucky I guess, if it comes down to it I can burn a vacation day as long as I know a week or two ahead. It would be worth it to me, just to get to meet a few of you guys and chat for a while.

I'd be interested. St. Louis is about a 6 hour drive one way but I'm sure I need to buy something out that way anyway so I'll be in the area. :drivin:

I don't want to be a driving force for the meet location, I just want to come if work and time permit. A park type meet would be great as I'll have my pooch with me and others may want to bring their little critters or better halfs with them as well.

Good idea, thanks. I didn't really want to be "in charge " of this get together, but figured I'd at least get the ball rolling. I was hoping everybody would be a bit more "vocal" and just keep throwing ideas out there for date, time, and place, so we could all yea/nay until we worked something out........... but I'll do whatever to see this happen.

I agree, but I do like food:p. It would be easier for everybody to chat and whatnot at a park or something to that effect. What I was thinking is actually a bit of both. Like lunch somewhere for those so inclined, then some other location where everyone could chill and chat for however long they felt like staying.

I need a deadline to get serious about finishing up the ChopTop. If we could pick a Sept/Oct date I'd get a buddy with a BBQ concession trailer to hook us up with lunch or dinner.

I work swing shifts, and our busy season is coming in slowly already. Hard telling what O.T. we'll be pulling by May.

So, even though you dont want to "be the driving force for the date" what weekends are your off weekends? Maybe just knowing Others schedules would give the rest of us a couple dates to check on.

I'll put my dates out there first I guess........................
First two weekends of May (6,7,8 and 13,14,15th ) would be easiest for me. Those two fall on my "long" weekends, but I would really (not:p) hate to burn a vacation day for anything FSJ related if it is necessary.
