Do any of you have any experience using any of the Mile Marker Hydraulic Winches.
Their website is: http://www.milemarker.com/
For those of you who have mounted front winches, did you have to fabricate a mount or did you buy one off the shelf?
Updates:
Regretably, I did not have enough lift with the AAL's and body lift installed to mount 33''s without fender triming in the rear, so to save some $$$$ and spend this on a winch, I decided to use the stock rims with a set of 31"s Kelly MT for $ 90.00 each installed. Oh well.........maybe soon when the existing springs go!

Hey wingo, let me know what you come up with for a winch mount. That's my next project. I'm thinking about just extending the frame rails a few inches and mounting a platform and either just remounting my stock bumper in the extended position or fabricating something like a CJ bumper out of channel iron. If you decide on an electric winch check out www.uswinch.com (http://www.uswinch.com) for good prices on the complete Ramsey line and some Warns. I researched the mile-marker system but I just can't get past the thought of burning out my power-steering pump during a rough pull (hanging from a cliff by a winch cable with no power to the winch) and the electric set-up is pretty well proven. With a high output alt. and dual isolated batts I would go with electric.

I spoke with the Tech. that services our hydraulic systems at work and he felt that on a minimum if you were going to use the power steering pump you should install a tank to hold more fluid.......maybe 1 gal. Alternatively he suggested removing the air pump and install a small hydraulic pump...maybe 1 to 3 gpm depending on what the ideal gpm and pressure requirements are for the winch.
The nice thing about hydraulic winches is the long duty cycle.

I like the idea of a dedicated pump for the winch. I much prefer a PTO set-up but alas we can't run one without major mods. Maybe even a second power steering pump of some make/model would work. I'd still like to hear what you'll find out about mounting "kits" for our rigs. BTW, mine looks like yours right now since I pulled the front bumper to fit a brushguard. Our rigs look tough and cool with the front bumper pulled! It also looks cool now that it's way up on jack-stands, I'm dying to get it lifted. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

The only problem with a hydrolic winch, is that they only work if the motor is running... if you stall in a mud hole or creek, it's time to find someone to pull you out. As for the mounting of the winch, anyone use/ have any thoughts on receiver mounting platforms for winches, then using heavy duty electrical conn's on both ends of the Jeep? You could then use the winch front or rear, and also protect it from thieft by locking it in your house. (While in the city that is!)

I think I posted this before. Milemarker are excellent rescue winches. I know cuz i was stuck and nobody could pull my dodge out of frame deep mud. It took a guy in a big chevy with a mile marker and it worked like a pto. thing is it needs the engine running to work. so if you submarine the truck it wont work. Also Mile marker also makes a dedicated pump for it. this guy had one excellent set up.
