I just bought an 84 Grand Wagoneer, and pretty much everything works, with the exception of the rear window. I took the glass out and the track looks like it is bent. Instead of being straight across the tailgate, it is diagonal. I thought switching tailgates might be an option, but it looks like working tailgates are harder to come by than I thought. Any ideas for a newbie? Thanks.

Ooohh, I like the sound of a manual window. Not as convenient, but a much smaller headache over time, I would imagine.

ShagginWagon: I feel your pain...Franklinsteins tailgate window she no go down and is stuck in up. I was considering swapping the tailgate from my `84 wagoneer but i think the problem may lie with the wiring going back to the tail gate.

CheifWideTrack: Glad you posted that site as I was just gunna ask if anybody new how to get a power to manual conversion kit! smile.gif

Shaggin,
welcome aboard. Its great to see other 'newbies' come in and benefit from the knowledge base here. The rear window was the first thing i tackled, and because it now works, i feel more like i can tackle the rest of my wag's problems. if the track is bent, you'll at least need new pieces, but the manual conversion looks like a low maintainence solution. Good luck.

just so you guys know, some members have had crappy results with the manual window conversion. Seems the crank is made of soft metal and the splines strip it out quickly................phil
