:hide:

Well, looks like Saturday only for me and Jeepless (GW's been sitting for almost two years, can't see myself finding the time to get it back together again in a month).

I might try to make this trip with my 15 y/o son. He lives, eats, and breathes Jeeps. The only problem I have is that if I tell him about the show he will want to bring the J10 we are building for him. That means I'll be bugged constantly until the job is done. Wait a minute that's is already happening!

My wife and I both grew up in Shoemakersville, PA. This trip will be a good opportunity to visit family back home.

Yeah, It gets better though. His first ride will be rebuilt from the ground up. It is an extreme father and son project. The 401 sports forged Bulltear pistons, a lunati cam, scorpion rockers, headers, and a set of heads from a 360 Hornet X I had when I was in high school in the late 70s.

My mission is to teach my son as much as I can about cars. I didn't want my son to be the kid that didn't know what he was looking at when he opened the hood on a car.

So far we have stripped the cab to the bones, welded in new floor pans, rebuilt the: engine, 727 transmission, 208 transfer case, and a set of J20 axles. This past weekend we welded up the firewall heater box holes in preparation for a vintage air heater/ac unit. If all goes well the dash will be heavily modified with all new gauges.

My son has invested over 2K of his lawn mowing earnings into the project. Basically, when he is not turning wrenches he is shoveling snow or mowing grass to make money for his Jeep. I plan to give him back the money he invested in his project when he goes to college (He does not know this). But for now, I think it is important that he has a sense of ownership in his project.

Most of my son's friends can't understand why he would work so hard on a truck when he could just play playstation all day and let his parents buy him a vehicle. My son actually thinks the J truck is cool and can't understand why everyone doesn't think exactly like him.

Anyway, I've rambled on way too long. Hope to see you at the show.

Yeah I hope to see you too! Ill probably drive the wagoneer. That truck sounds completly INSANE! And I though I was cool in HS (2 years ago :D) Driving my XJ on 35's. Man your son is lucky. Thats totally cool the heads of your HS ride is on his.

PLEASE post some pics! or do you have a thread floating around?

I know what you mean about those kids that dont know where a spark plug, or even the oil dipstick is. The deal I had with my dad was basically he'd buy me all the parts I need, but Id install them and take care of his old trucks and vette. With labor rates these day, he's still come out far ahead

Pardon my ignorance but as I understand it I have to pay $40 to attend the event. I'm not interested in putting my vehicle in any competition, I just want to go there and look at other people's Jeeps. I might even get lucky and find some parts I need.

From the PA Jeeps website:

Q - Do I have to register my Jeep in order to attend?
A - No, you can enter as a spectator but you will miss out on some perks of bringing your Jeep inside the event.

c) FREE Winch Raffle Ticket and Chairman’s Choice Prize Ticket. (Only registered Jeep owners receive these)
d) The camaraderie that comes with having your Jeep parked within 500 other Jeep owners…Friendships built.

Q – What is the spectator admission fee?
A - $5 per day…children 12 and under FREE

Anyone know if BJ's is gonna be there? I e-mailed them but no answer. I was looking at a lift kit and read that they attended this show previously and BJ's brought a lift kit with them, saving the buyer shipping. Just wondering if lightning can strike twice! :)

That would be ZMJeeps IIRC, and if you buy and he can bring it on the trailer you can save shipping.

Actually, it's my bad:

The question was about Rusty's and I mis-read it as BJ's. I'm considering a 2" lift and BJ's if the only place I've found it - yet. I like the idea of leaving the brake lines and pitman arm alone...

PLEASE enter your Chief and get your registration in SOON. It is so much easier when you preregister and you don't have to sit in line for an hour waiting to register. We also need to get the number of FSJs inside the fence up this year or our category is going to get smaller and smaller in up coming years.

Anyone driving through St. Louis, MO on their way to Pennsylvania?

I haven't decided what day we will be leaving Missouri but my son and I are definitely going to make it to the Jeep show. My son has a learners permit now so he is very anxious to help out with the driving duties.

Our initial plan was to take my son's J10 truck but there was too much work left to to done to make it roadworthy. So instead, we decided it would be easier to finish rebuilding the 401 that was slated for the Wagoneer. Last night we picked up the balanced rotating assembly from the machine shop. Now, all that is left to do is assemble the engine, install it and tune the fuel injection.

Hopefully everything will go right and the Wagoneer will be sporting a much needed new engine. If not, we will be taking our Dodge truck but either way we will be going to the show.

Spectators $5 at the gate.

You really need to to put your GW in the show.

We need a big showing of Full Size Jeeps this year so they don't lump us in with some other class or like what happened last year, 1 class that included Umlimited, Modified, and Stock and only gave out 3 three trophies 1st 2nd and 3rd. There were approx. 20 FSJs entered last year, some other classes only had 3 vehicles entered in them and they had nine trophies.

I actually forgot about that guy. I hope someday he removes alot of the unnecessary bling and makes it look like it was built in today's world. It's a beautiful truck unfortunately built to late eighties/early nineties show standards. Tons of show but not much go. Kind of the opposite of my truck. :(

We were planning to go again this year with the bride in the YJ now that it has some new legs and I in either the FSJ or the Orvis (she couldn't understand why there weren't any in the show last year..8^).

For the first time in a long time, all my junk is operational!

But...as fate would have it, I got popped for another deployment. I don't think they will fly me back for the weekend.

Hope everyone has a good time.

Stop by the MVC tent and tell Rob that Bryan said Hello and that I am ready for him to pick up the GW and start on it...

He did an awesome job on my YJ. Great guy to deal with, can build anything as well as body/paint (actually, I think Matt does the painting) if you want to get something done and dont mind that his shop is out in the middle of PA. He should have a show out there. His place is amazing!

My son and I have been incredibly busy getting our Wagoneer ready for the Jeep show. On 5 July we pulled out the tired 360 engine. Then we built up a 401 and installed it in the Wag. We spent many nights wrenching until 1 AM. On Wed 13 July we left St. Charles, MO headed for PA. The Wag ran great and even got between 12 to 13 MPG. My son ended up driving about 350 miles on his learners permit.

So far we have had quite the adventure. We will look forward to meeting everyone on Saturday.

Engine Specs.
74 401 40 over
BBC TBI with 350 injectors
VAFPR set at 19 psi
Crane H260 cam, springs, and lifters
Crane SBF roller rockers
2131 intake

I figured the show was later in the year so yesterday i went to the Super Chevy show at maple grove Raceway. If i'd known I would of driven another hour or so and went to the Jeep show. But I did get to work on the Jeep a bit more. So something good came out of it.

It was definitely great getting to see some other FSJs and meeting some of the people attached to these screen names.

I'm also pleased to say I made it back in time to get to the wedding

We just got back to Missouri this morning. All in all we drove 2084 miles on this adventure. My son drove about 600 miles of the trip on his learner's permit. Except for the 95 degree heat (without A/C) and then trying to stay ahead of the tornado (with hail) in Western PA and Eastern OH everything went well.

We managed to win a Second Place trophy in the Class 6 modified division and we also won a plaque for the longest distance traveled.

Thank god you took the picture on my jeeps good side! Paint looks perfect :D

Did not know about that ifsja only raffle. Any one know who one and what was the prize?

I won a fan shroud courtesy of Z&M Jeeps. I was planning on buynig one, so that worked out perfectly. In talking with everyone, it's looking like I need to tend to my radiator. I can't wait until i can drive on the highway and not pull off to cool down :)

I forgot to mention what a pleasure it was meeting fellow FSJers. It always amazes me what a good group of people we have. It sure was nice to put faces with the screen names.

It was nice meeting you as well. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to you about my 304 and feel like I definetly learned a thing or two. While I also enjoyed checking out your 401 I must admit a good bit of your EFI went straight over my head. Nevertheless, it was one of the coolest things I saw there on Sunday.

Glad you made it home safe without hail damage to that pretty blue paint too. -Brian :)

Geep, no you cant have it. Its not even an FSJ! ;) (Excellent Job on the pics of the show, too  )

Great Show again, and as HeadHoncho best puts it, expect the heat, the heat and the sun will be brought, and that weekend in July every weekend, it never rains. Believe it or not, it was hotter last year...and the year before. Cant we just get a cloudy day? Just one? :banghead:

Woodchomper gets a well deserved longest distance travelled award. It was great talking to you and your son.. its been said here before, but putting a 401 in that thing a few days before, simply awesome.

Other newbie (i think first time at the show) nods go to the two 4000s at the show, one was the green camper special that is Juleps, I didnt get a chance to talk to you, but that thing just oozes patina and originality, what a sweet truck. And, the maroon colored 4000 with gold colored fender extensions, another absolutley sweet and stout FSJ ride.

There was some mention of dash plauques above...Any FSJer on here who had an FSJ in the show field that didnt get a dash plaque? Ive got an extra one up for grabs Ill send to you free for speaking up.

Phenomenal Pics! I was so psyched to go that I forgot my camera. I was also so psyched when I got there, I left my keys in the ignition almost until the time I left, as can be seen in the pics :D

Great group, great knowledge, and had a great time

Thanks again!

Steve...were all bros ... your truck was safe with the keys in the left in the ingnition.

Mine were in the ignition all day Sunday. :o Surprised I didn't see it on the obstacle course without me in it.

We (BattlewagonNJ and I) had an awesome time at this years show once again. The turnout of FSJ's was one of the best ever. There was about 6 trucks in Stock, 5 in Modified, and 7 in Unlimited. Zack's (Z&M Jeeps) $pon$or$hip of the trophies certainly didn't go to waste and is much appreciated. Thanks to all who voted for my truck.
My truck also ended up on the obstacle course twice with me as a passenger. Now she thinks she owns it.
It was great to see everyone again and to meet a bunch of new faces (I don't remember names). :( So glad the Missouri duo made it and took home two trophies. Very well deserved. Austin it was great to meet you and I'll help you hack that truck of yours up anytime. :p Julep4000 has an AWESOME Gladiator! I want that gold/copper colored no-brow J-10. What a sweet looking truck. Eric's FC170 will be located and swept away to a secret location in my backyard. ;). PineyMike, thanks for the use of your vendor space and holding a camping spot for us 'till we showed up at 1:30am Sat morning. Thanks again to BattlewagonNJ for bringing the hammock and firewater. The poor guy was just looking at my truck.
Can't wait till next year.

HA speaking of keys, mine spent half the day sunday in my tailgait switch!

I never got to talk to the owner, but that Green Camper Special was definitely my favorite Jeep at the show. Its just perfect!

Honcho- Not gonna cut this one up! REALLY itching to grab a beater Wagoneer and put some big tires on it. I love my XJ, but its just kinda generic (even on 8 lugs).

I have alot of pics of Honcho and " The pool guy" on the obstacle course. Ill get em up eventually.

It does appear to have been a really great show this year. Great turn out.

Eric (JerseyJeeps), that 78 waggy is spending a lot of time dancing around in my head. Sent ya a PM about the paint. I have to say that has to be my favorite of all the pics I have seen so far. The sun makes the paint really pop.

I appreciate you guys posting pics of the other classes, vendors, etc. as well. It makes me feel like i was sort of there.

That electric wheelchair with the outhouse cover is awesome..and a good source of shade! Pretty smart.

Awesome! Much thanks JerseyJeeps! I will keep my eyes peeled : )

Headhoncho, Wow much appreciated. I sometimes can be the strictest judge of my own ride lol. I was just happy I drove it up this year. Gettin 2nd meant a lot as I've never gotten a award for it-kind of rewarding for the work put in it. The burgandy J4000, JerseyJeeps Wagon and 2tonebluJ10 took the show for me-the amount of detail and work put in is apparrent. I wanna drive mine too much haha. I still load up the johnboat or haul stuff as it is my only pickup. The color is "Liquid Copper"( 05' Infiniti). Enjoyed seeing your rig this year too (it looks good with the stepside : D ) Glad a offroad Jeep took an award as well.

2nd year attending, excellant show. Had fun and glad I came back on Sunday : D
