I was looking at JCWhitney and they have Class III hidden hitch receivers for $99.99, http://jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=81108&BQ=jcw2&_requestid=22896 but they are for 76-83, i was curious if it would work with my 74?

Or should i just make my own so that i have better angle?

i could not find any hitches for my '74 any more i guess they dont make them anymore...i got a hitch for a small body cherokee it fits frame rails great and you can pull WAY more than it says on hitch..if you email me and i'll give you the hitch part number and you could order it hope that helps

The original owner of my '74 had a hitch made based on pictures of the original hitches that were available for purchase.

I took the hitch off since I don't tow anything, so it is available if you want it. I could also scan the pictures I was given of the original units if that would help?

The frames were redesigned in '76. I have one (class 3) on my '75 kinda shaped like a triangle. They might be factory because I see them all the time on FSJ's and they have the relay box for the trailer lights that plugs into the stock harness. I pulled mine off a '78 cherokee with the newer frame and I had no problem putting it on my '75.
