whats the difference?

I am wonder what is the difference between quadra-trac and select-trac? Someone enlighten me please :cool:

"Quadratrac" is Jeep's generic name for its full-time four-wheel drive systems that lack a 2wd mode. In the FSJ's, that name was applied to the Borg-Warner 1339 and the New Process 219 transfer cases.

"Selectrac" is Jeep's generic name for its full-time four-wheel drive systems that include a 2wd mode. In the FSJ's, that name was applied to the NP228 and NP229 transfer cases.

Jeep has continued to use these designations, so they call the NP242 unit in the WJ's a "Selectrac", and they called the NP249 in the ZJ's a "Quadratrac".
