I have a1982-83 J-10 shortbed it is a six cyl with a NP208 I think the rear driveshaft and NP-208 are a swap-in for my NP-229 in my 1984 GW and if i can find a vac diagram and make my front axle engaged all the time and use the lockouts off of the J-10 what do you think?

All you have to do is find out where vacume engages and disengages the disconnects. find the port that engages them, and run direct vacume to them, and you'll be fine. I have never dealt wiht these things, this is just what i would guess, but it SHOULD work for you. Worst case, swap in the J10 frontend if the gears match. Good luck!

DO IT!
I have a 208 and driveshaft ready to go in my GW. Can't wait to be rid of the viscuous coupler and vac stuff! Athough I must say the 229 took quite a pounding off-road and hasn't fliched...yet...
