Thanks Brizio, I'm not afraid to take the motor on a road trip. Kind of was expecting to. Where at in portland? There's gotta be some good shops around the state that are reputable and willing to do the job.

You can find good mechanics all over .... I would reccommend finding a shop though that is familiar with AMC motors. For the most part a motor is a motor, but I have dug into my 401 and there are few things that if a guy was familiar with the engine it would have worked out better.

Dunno anyone for sure, but these guys might.

car clubs like this are sure to have some sort of engine rebuilder preference... at the very least someone to stay away from. More importantly, they might have contacts we don't.

I stumbled across IFSJA right off, but I pay attention to the guys running the same equipment I have; always something new to learn.

Here's a local shop around here that cranks out some good stuff. Not sure about the amc part though.

Best AMC shop in Oregon - Portland Engine Re-builders. Talk to Ted King. Google for the web site.

They have built two 401's for me and all of the AMC racers I know go to them. They know how to do it.
