I decided to yank the cruise control out of my '88 GW. Reasons: I need to make more room under the hood, it never worked and if it did, I probably would never use it anyway. The engine is out, so I have room to work. Apparently, I have 2 speedo cables. Do I pull them both and replace with single cable for GW w/o cruise. What all under this hood is cruise related? I'm so confused! ;) All input is welcome.

I have no idea! But since no one has replied.... (BTT) :D

Yanking cruise works for me, mine doesn't work so I moved my stuff to make room for new fuel pump. My cruise is vacuum operated and I don't know about you but a vacuum operated cruise doesn't sound like the safest thing to me so I can do without it!

id like to do that aswell someday. mine has never worked properly (accellerates constantly). So i too wish to remove it.
I never really looked, but how much room does it take up?

Haven't removed ours yet on the '85 Wag, but want to. I do know that the vacuum line and wiring go into the firewall, and then go to a black box thing that I mistakenly thought at one time was come kind of computer do-hickey. Anyway, we can probably just track the stuff through our firewall, and yank it out. Will probably have to plug the source for vacuum, so other stuff isn't affected in the process...you know, these rigs sometimes act like a leaky dam; when one problem crops up, gotta be careful that the fix doesn't create another probvlem! Good luck, and if anybody gets it done before I do, share your process..no use inventing the wheel twice! Thanks, CR
