OK, What am I missing?

I bought a new chain for my QT. The first one was to big with 49 links so I brought it back and got the right one with 48 links but I can not get it on to save my life. Is there a trick to it? Help!!

I tried it and it works !

Ok after some serious manipulation from three guys and a BFH I managed to get the t-case back together. The chain is very tight! Should it have some play to start with? With it being this tight will it snap as soon as I go forward?

It must be tight. Mine has only 1/4" through the check-hole. That's supposed to be normal.
