I have the Buick 350 and i grenaded my T-15 so I was told to get a T-18. I got a T-18 and my Bellhousing won't work. Have the Buick 350 and T-18 ever been a setup from the factory? If so how easy is it to find that bellhousing? Or should I get a hold of Advance Adapters and see what they got?

Thanks

Let me check, I dropped one off about 8 months ago to this tranny guy. I'll see if he still has it. The one I pulled off was cast and big and heavy. that's all i will have is just the bell housing.

Is your T-18 from a Jeep? According to AA catalog Ford also used the T-18 in their trucks (from 1969 to 1985). Also says Jeep was the only manufacturer to produce Buick to manual tranny in large numbers. It says that there are many different T18 setups (something like 11 or 14 different gear ratio combos were made)so have your input shaft measurements ready when you call.

ok Let me think. The guy I dropped the tranny off at never saw a bellhousing like this before . I do believe he has never seen that lenght input shaft also. I can give him a call and get this info if you need it. I do believe the input shaft cracked at the time of removal. I do think he has it for his own info.

Its a T-18 out of a 77 Cherokee. Its mated with my D-20. But the bolt pattern on my BOP bellhousing is different. I need to either make it work or find one that will!!!!

anthony,on another note, how hard would it be to make your current bell work? if it is same length or shorter than the t18 bell, you could relocate some holes, and possible take up any differences in length with a spacer.

if it would work with some mods or machining, ill give you something for your old bell if you get one from j10/j20 that will work...

Anthony, There is a approx 1in adapter plate that goes between the bellhousing and tranny for the buick setup. Also if your t18 is out of a 77chero thaen it has too long of an input shaft. You could get the proper one which is around 8in if i remember right. You would need to go to a fairly knowledgeable gear/brg supplier to get it. Drivetrain industries comes to mind. Should be able to search for them on the net. Th buick bellhousing I have had the adapter on it but it went with the t98 when I sold the tranny.
