Here is the proplem. My speedometer cable will not fit all the way into the transfercase. Just broke the end off my new (used) cable. I think a piece of the old cable is still stuck in the transfer case. I tried a magnet with no luck. Here is the question. Can I take the rear housing (where the drive shaft connects)off with no major problems? Have a gasket kit so sealing it should not be problem. Also does anyone know of a good source for new cables?

There is no need to take of the whole housing. Just take off the speedo cable housing. Once you pull that off then pull out the speedo gear and remove the piece. The housing comes out with a 15/16 socket if I can remember correctly. As for the cable, there is a place in AZ that has new cables. I got mine there. It is in Phoenix on Belmount Ave. The Number is 1-800-882-5337.
