Hi everyone,

While working on the 90 GW the other night, I was taking off the air cleaner and on the back of it there's a vacuum switch type thing with two nipples on it that connect to two of the vacuum lines. While pulling it off (so I could get down in the carb) the one side snapped and broke. :-(

Can someone tell me the name of this thing? A check valve or vacuum switch maybe? Not sure where to get it, figured I should know what it is first. :)

Thanks as always,
Brian

BPMeenan,
I would just go to the junk yard and get a new air cleaner housing, it shouldn't cost that much. That would probably br the easiest thing to do. You probably wouldn't be able to find that thing by itself anyways, I may be wrong, we'll just have to see what somebody else says, I myself would just get a new one.

That's a TVS (Thermal Vacuum Switch) which is part of the EGR system. It "improves cold operation" according to my info. I would think you could find one in the HELP!/Motormite section of your local parts depot. They are preset to a trigger temperature, but I doubt the temp is much different across different cars that have the same EGR system (GM's, probably others). Then again, you could just take one from C_J and be sure it's the same... smile.gif

Thanks for the information, everyone. (and the offer, Pete.)

Before I saw your message, I had already ordered one from the friendly neighborhood Chrysler dealership (17 bucks!)

I didn't see anything at all like this at the local Pep Boys or Napa, so I went dealer.

At least it's shiny, for now anyway. :-o

Happy Wednesday,
