I bought a set a couple of months ago, and they have been just sitting around until today when I tried to put them on. On the drivers side they are tight up against the engine mount and the bellhousing. I need another at least half an inch to line up the bolts, but there is no where for them to go. On the passenger side I can't figure out how to even get it in there. This of course is really ticking me off, because my J20 is ready to fire up and take it's maiden voyage out of my garage.

I could really use some advice and help!!! What can I do? I already trashed my old manifolds, but I do have a set on my '84 360 that is sitting there. Anybody use headers on their J-trucks????

You will need a drivers Manifold from a pre 80 rig. The one off your 84 will not work with a stock Y Pipe. I can't help you on the Headers..... Only one thing I do with headers, and that is remove em!!.......I do not recall ever installing a set.

Pete, thanks for the advice. I don't have any stock exhaust. I'm going to have it custom bent, so that's not an issue. I've been out there for an hour on the driver's side wiggling and pushing, and it doesn't look as though it is going to fit. I don't understand how a company could sell something that it says fits if it doesn't.

Can I use a set of '70 dogleg mani's on my engine?

Just called Jegs, and the guy I ordered them from sold me headers for CJ's. He assured me that they would fit, and insisted because Dynomax didn't list anything for the J-trucks, but it had an AMC motor so it will fit just fine. RIGHT!!!

Pete, I don't have the mani's, but I saw some on ebay (crap, now you guys all know too). They are starting cheap, just thought that since nobody likes headers that I would try to find some pre-emissions mani's.

Anybody need some CJ headers? I paid $105 for them, and have painted them with 1000 degree grill paint. Jegs said I could exchange them for some hedman's that would actually work, so if someone is interested let me know.

Hump, you should be able to return them for a full refund, including shipping. They are not what you ordered and will not fit what you bought them for. Speak to a manager or supervisor. I have had to do this a couple of times. They can't sell you something that has been misrepresented like that. They said they would work, didn't tell you they were not for your aplication. They were guessing. They ignored the manufacturers' listing!! Go and yell until they send you money!!
