I'm a proud new owner of an 88 GW. I love the classic looks of the vehicle but am some what less enamored with the mushy boat like handling. It has new shocks and tires, but I'd be interested to know what else I might do. Are there sources for sway bars, stiffer rubber (bushings etc) and suggestions for different shocks. This vehicle will be used for street driving only. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the club, I am only a member for 3 days now, but I can tell you these people here are amazing and helpful.....

I lurked here for a month before I finally bought mine (1989 GW).....

After you read all the replies to this post go to the search mode..extremely helpful!!!!

Also check out the tech section...great as well.....

As for the shocks make sure they are NOT those Air Shock...mine has them and rides high and hard, there is a air valve on the rear bumper that allows you to adjust the air pressure (or somethig like that)..anyway Sears is having a sale on shocks (at least here in New York) I am getting them for $21 a piece plus $10 installation.......

Good Luck

Stuart..

If you need some shocks, I have 4 NAPA Grande 60 LT shocks installed by my tire dealer about 6 months ago for my 88 GW. I thought they were stiff for my taste.

I paid $39 ea for them...I'll ship them to you for $10 ea plus shipping. They are white
and look brand new.

I'm curious if anyone has tried the Edelbrock IAS shocks? On their website they list two different shocks for front and rear, so I'm guessing they did their homework since the original shocks were the same at all 4 corners. Expensive, but are they worth it?
