Well, I did my research on prior threads and decided to do the 3" body lift instead of a suspension lift. I ordered the performance accessories 3" kit #923 with the 12 mounts from Tyres International ($76.00). Here are my questions b/4 starting this weekend:

1. Do I need different size bolts than the ones that come w/ the kit? If so, what size?

2. Do I need the shifter extension? It seems that guys with newer model Wags like mine ('89) have gotten along OK without one.

3. Do I need to extend my E-brake line? How about any other lines?

4. RIVERBEAST - I'm using your web site as a guide/bible on doing this (especially for the bumper relocation) - but I can't print it out to have by my side in the garage. Is it located anywhere else?

5. What's the deal with those "lip gaurds" for the wheel wells? Are they necessary or cosmetic?

Sorry for all the questions. As I looked through the past threads on this subject I can't find anyone who's done this lift on an '89. I just don't want to miss anything.

I did a 2" BL on my 76 Wag.
Some things will be different...some will be the same.

1. Do I need different size bolts than the ones that come w/ the kit? If so, what size?

My kit was a genuine bolt on...the bolts worked fine

2. Do I need the shifter extension? It seems that guys with newer model Wags like mine ('89) have gotten along OK without one.

I jsut loosened the shifter linkage before the lift, then tightened it back up afterwards. The linkage was long enough to do it. Look at yours to see if there is 3" of linkage sticking out underneath where the linkage hooks up.

3. Do I need to extend my E-brake line? How about any other lines?

My lines were all OK

5. What's the deal with those "lip gaurds" for the wheel wells? Are they necessary or cosmetic?

They are partially cosmetic, but they also help keep crap from flying up into your engine compartment. You don't have to buy custom ones...try cutting up some mudflaps from a big rig and rivetting them in or something similar

A word of advice...get under there NOW with some WD-40 Or something and start prepping all the bolts that are currently holding your Jeep together. It'll save you some serious keister-pain later if yours is rusted/frozen half as bad as mine was.

Thanks Jode. I've been hitting the bolts w/ PB Blaster for about a week, so hopefully I'll be in decent shape.

It seems this instal is pretty easy.

Just so you don't get confused... the frame behind the front bumper on yours has an 'ear' that sticks out for a mount... mine does'nt...the front will not be the same fabbbing that I did.

the rear should be the same...

IF you highlight the text, cut and pste it to a text document.. then print it... :D

Thanks, Todd. Anything else I'm missing. I'm a rookie w/ this stuff and want to make sure I have all bases covered.
