I need to remove the main wiring harness from the 89 firewall and use it on my 87 for the 401 swap. I cannot figure out how to get it off without DAMAGE. Anyone have pics on how to do it.

If I am thinking about the right thing on my 82 it has a bolt in the middle of all the wires to the firewall. If you take it out you can just unplug it.

A bolt in the engine side or inside the cab? Mine looks like it's all clipped together like an electrical connector would be clipped.

On the outside(under the hood)

The bolt is right in the middle of the wires. It can be hard to see since its kinda deep in there. At least thats the way it is on the earlier models, I never had a '87+ one apart.

In my half hour examination of the harness I saw no bolt. It does however have like 6 clips around it but could not get it off.

I bend over in my chair and cry. Waahhh

Try a 3/8" socket on a long extension, and put it right in the middle of the nest o' wires.

I couldn't see the one on my 78 the other day, but I tried it and it un bolted.

Good luck.

Daniel

Someone must know for sure if it changed.

Well I'll have to see if I have a 3/8" socket and give it a whirl. HAHAHAHA.
