i have finally given up on my Motorcrap carburetor. I had it rebuilt about two months ago and since that time my choke has broken twice and yesterday it started leaking gas. Luckily the car died before my intake got too hot. so i bought a two barrel Holley (500cfm) with a manual choke. have any of you done this swap or know of any problems i may run into. any advice will be much appreciated.

I recently installed a holley 2 barrel on my 304 and i had no problems putting it on. It had the electric choke, so i dont know about the manual portion swap.

My throttle bracket didn't put the cable in the right spot- too far back... that's about it. Might have to do something slightly different with the fuel line?

They work fine on the flatlands; you may have some flooding on steep hills. This may not matter if you never climb/descend steep hills.

You may be able to set it up so that it won't flood; certainly you can improve it from stock condition. First I'd raise the bowl vent, similar to what you see on the Truck Avenger. Some possible changes are jet baffles, off-road needle and seat, vent whistle, and maybe a fuel pressure regulator. The picture on the Holley site shows a side-pivot float for the 2300 - that's the one you want. The center pivot is the hot setup for flat track, but side-pivot is better off-road.
