I am looking at buyin a 84 wagoneer. It has 36000 original miles on and was garged most of its life. I have read about the transfer case being a bit of a problem is there anything else i should be looking at also. One last question what is it worth.

Welcome on board and to the sound of money shooting out of your wallet! :p
The vacuum lines on the NP229 transfer case can get brittle & crack/break where they are plastic and the 2 shift diaphrams can go bad. The 83-84 equipped with NP229 have a vacuum disconnect for the front axle also. It is a good system if maintained proper like.

Also take a good look at the frame for rust especially near the gas tank.
Besides condition value is dependent on location and demand in that area. Only benifit I see in that low mileage in a 26 year old vehicle is that the body and interior should be perfect. Not just nice but perfect. Super low miles can be a curse though fuel, brakes sytems, seals rubber bits don't age well just sitting. I'd expect to rebuild the carb and brakes in the very near future. Not just shoes but possibly the complete system. Make sure the vacuum system that controls the tcase and front axle works well. Besides the rubber bits rotting with age, the vacuum motors need to be used often or moisture corrodes the insides of the vac motors.
Around here in W. WA and the body/int were perfect and it runs really good I'd guess maybe $1500. If it had 75,000 miles to me it'd be worth more...fewer possible issues.
Expect to spend some money on it soon and allow time for tinkering. If you're in a wet or humid area check under the carpet for rust. The floors rust from the inside out from trapped moisture. If it's in the SW the above issues won't be as big of a concern as it would in the eastern states.
Good luck.
