I have the stock set up of a Motorcraft 2150 it is recently rebuilt and is set pretty well, but I am tired of the abysmal fuel mileage and wouldn't mind a little more power. Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket electronic fuel injections systems?

What kind of mileage are you getting?

No personal experience, but there has been lots talked about on the board. It depends what you mean by "worth it". Will you pay back your investment in fuel saving? I guess eventually, depending on how much you drive. You may go from 10-12 to 13-15, so it would be a long process. I always considered other things that don't have a real $$ value - low/no maintenance after set-up, easier starting, immune to changes in altitude, better throttle response and overall more pleasurable driving. You may not get your investment back on paper, but there can be other benefits that make your life easier/better.

Do some poking around on the site - there have been lots of before and after stories written, some with MPG data. Less time spent monkeying with a carburetor could translate to more time on other items or hopefully, out on the trail enjoying your investment.

Good luck!

I've been getting about 10-14 depending on where I'm driving (local, highway, etc, I know this is typical so I guess I shouldn't complain. I'm more or less curious what others experiences are, positive or negative. I had considered a diesel swap too, but the payback is never there more just to say you have a diesel jeep. I think EFI is a cheaper way to get a more driveable vehicle

I have considered the EFI swap myself. But as far as drivability goes, a carb in the long run is just fine with me. I can think of a few other things I would spend the money on rather than an EFI upgrade. For the price of an EFI system one could rebuild a lot of systems to improve reliability and what little efficiency these vehicles have.
