I was wondering while tinkering around with Ed... The Low range lever on the side of the center hump there seems to have three positions, but I have NO idea what they are. Found out the lever pushed all the way down disengages the tranny altogether?? The "Middle" Position, I GUESS, would be "Normal" Operation, and the lever pulled all the way UP would be "LOW"??? And further, should one stop and put the tranny in neutral before shifting as is required by my other 4x4 vehicles??? HOW does this blasted lever WORK, yall??

All the way down is "normal" position, i.e. low range not engaged. Middle position is neutral, all the way up is low range engaged.

Down is normal range
Middle is nuetral
Up is low range
Shifting is a PITA on a QT, easiest way I have found, can be either of 2 methods.
1. shift transfer case @ super low speeds in gear, doesn't always work.
2. shift after shutting off engine and leaving transmission in gear, seems to work a little better.
Depending on the mood/condition of you Jeep may dictate altering methods.
