broke my door handle @&!*@#*!@*

i pulled to hard on my door handle and busted it. the handle itself is not broken but the splined piece that goes to the door did. is this a piece i can replace? it broke right before the spline. i can't really tell how it all works right now. could i get some help please. thanks

I would have a replacement if you like. Changing it is the only solution.

what exactly am i replacing i have not taken the door panel off and i don't know what i would be looking at. how much of a PITA is this task. thanks

Door panel has to come off, then there are 3 screws around the splined shaft that you broke off, remove them. There is a flat linkage rod that goes to the door latch, with a light so you can see, twist the linkage so it will come off the latch lever. Not a hard job at all. Half hour maybe. ;)
