what are you guys running for exhaust?I have thorley headers and I think I am gonna run a cat 2.5 in and out and maybe try the summit turbo muffler 2.5 in and out.

oh boy!!!! not this again!!!! LMAO!!! :D
Please do a search for your answer.... we have had SEVERAL LONG, LLLLOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG debates on this....
Nothing wrong with asking, so you can't know unless you ask, but PLEASE search the history on this one... you will get MANY posts to read up on...
No I'm not avoiding the question... ;)

Since I started the last 12 page 2000 respounse argument about exhaust, I'll sum it up this way. No matter what you do, everyone will be in disagreement! LOL Dennis

Well well well, another potentionialy controversial question!
If you would be talking about 1 5/8" or bigger regular tube type headers, I would say you just killed your low rpm torque and moved your torque range up 500 to 1000 rpms basically only making the exhaust system produce more power at higher rpms where you hardly ever drive. Basically opposite for what a full size jeep needs and the overall results would be crap.
But since you are talking about Doug Thorley tri y design small tube headers, 2.5" tube, hi-flow cat, and high flow muffler, I would say you have picked the absolute finest exhaust system you possibly could have. The Tri Y match cylinders for scavenging which is really effective at lower to mid range rpms, right where you want to be. I think you get an A+ for your exhaust system selection.
I hardly ever disagree about things like this.
Problem with the DT header system is that most FSJeepers can not afford it and in fact some spend less for their FSJ's to start out with. The early/late manifold swap with the 2.5" tubing gets them pretty close to what your optimum system can do for a fraction of the price.

1979 and earlier drivers side manifold, 1980 and later passenger side manifold. Find someone to swap with you. I have seen some early 1980 models with the passenger side differential and these will not work. Make sure.
No matter what, you will have to have a new y pipe fabbed. If you need to retain your emmissions equipment for state emmisions you have to keep your heat riser.
Also, to get smooth radius curves on your y pipe a 3" to 4" spring lift is needed.

Thanks! No prob with emissions or the lift. :D
