hello well i was about to do the knuckle for my soa steering conversion but i got stopt because i was told that the hole for the the tie rod has to be concave u know in form of a cone so the tie rod stud can seat tie and not brake so i was wondering if any of u who have done it did get a reamer or how did u make the hole?

The reamers are available but are both pricy and hard to find. You may be better off having a machinist ream the hole for you. It would probably be cheaper and quicker than buying the tool and doing it yourself.

When I made my arm I bought a 15 degree taper ream from snap on.It wasn't more than 30 bucks(BLUEPOINT).Its a hand ream so drill the hole out as large as the small end of the ball joint first then throw away the instructions and chuck it into your air drill ;).Drill with slow bursts so as not to over heat the ream, keep checking the depth so you don't go too deep to tighten it down tight.

scoutgirl is right.its 7.5 deg taper per side.i did mine on a cnc mill but thats one of the advantages of having a machine shop.

i just recived an e mail from parts mike and here are the prices what do u think
One CNC'd arm is $85.00, the 3 studs, 3 conical washers and 3 grade 8 locknuts
are an additional $21.00.
or should i go with the trouble of doing it by my self lets see $ 12 dlls for a foot of 1 by 3 steel plate reamer about $30 bolts or studs about $5 total of $47 and i could said i did it right
what do u tink?
