I just rebuilt my QT and put 8 0z of High pressure diff oil and 3qts of nondetergent 30wt oil. I drove it for about 30 miles on the freeway and when I got into town it started clunking around turns. I had to be where I was going so I just drove there. After the day was over I started it up and it didn't clunk in the parking lot. Then when I get home from the 30 mile trip back on the freeway it was clunking again around turns.
It still has oil, I checked.

Take it to an empty parking lot and drive in figure 8's. That'll help mix that fluid goulash up and force it into the clutch cones--or something. Anyway, it'll get rid of what you're experiencing.

if the fluid u put in it is not QT fluid it will clunk in the corners....u need very special fluid for ur QT. the only genuine QT fluid is made by crown called TCL, about 10$/quart.

that clunking is the clutches in the xcases NOT properly slipping upon one another, they are binding releasing, binding releasing, etc. thats the clunking u hear.

You can use the Quadra-Trac fluid from the Jeep dealer as well, it is also *genuine*!! I get mine from the dealer for $8.

Nate, you need to use Limited Slip Differential additive (8 oz.) when making homemade QT oil...NOT gear oil. I would suggest fixing that
