I have a 4 inch Rusty's spring kit. The rear springs measue an inch less eye to eye than originals. I replaced rear shackle bushings and am trying to reinstall. The shackles will not come forward enough to put in eye bolt. It still lacks about an inch hooking up. I am so fed up with this project that I'm about to just quit and sell out!!! Somebody give me some pointers please! Sorry for the rant.......thanks!

Well the difference in length is probably just because of the arc in the spring, once weight is put on the springs, they should be the right length. I remember having a hard time with my rear springs too, but I dont know if theres a trick or anything.

I put the shackles end on first, and then the front bolt, but read later that this is opposite of what your supposed to do. So maybe try that. I do remeber having to pry and push alot to get it in.

I got an idea you could try, but I've never had to do it. get a chunk of 4"x4" wood about 8" to 12" long. Get a wratchet strap with no hooks(the kind that just makes a loop). then position the spring and wood so that the wood goes against the spring where the axle would mount at like this )-. Then wrap the stap around the eyes of the spring and over the end of the wood so that the strap makes a triangle. Then start sinchin it up, this should straighten out the spring enough that you can reach the eye to the shackle.

Just move the shackle forward. It can rotate around a good amount. The bushings are most likely just frozze in place. I had to use a HUGE pipoe wrech (its 2.5ft long and weighs a LOT) to grab onn and rotate mine when I did my shackle flip. The spring areas shorter because it has more arch as your stock spring is most likely sagged an gone flat making it longer like RamJet said above.

Yeah I can a-test to that I put my 6in on by myself. I kept thinking man If these shackles moved while I took em out then why is it taking me a crowbar to get them back in. LOL I just stuck a crow bar between the shackle and frame and gave it a few tugs and the thing moved the 1in or so required.

My suspension actuallly flexed better after i rotated the shackles around..because they actually MOVED..they where FROZE before. Taking off the ovload shocks helped too i am sure.

I had the same problem. A little force and a long pipe and they were in.
